About the organization

The elementary school is managed by Teacher / Director Santa Teresa Macario Chaj and José Vicente Marroquín Chávez, community leader who organized the community to establish the school 3 years ago.

Description of the school
1. Land that the school is using is a borrowed one (approximately 46 square meters). It's not their property. They aren't even renting it. Since there is no contract, if the current landlord wants them to vacate the land, they have no choice.
2. Walls of the school is "lamina" (corrugated metal/plastic sheets normally used for roofing).
3. Windows are transparent plastic sheets.
4. There is no floor. Just bare ground.
5. Only front side of the school is surrounded by a short fence so the students won't run into main road with car traffic.
6. There are 3 classes in the school (one of them is out of order)
7. One of the working class is for kinder and 1st grade.
8. Another class is used by the teacher/director to teach grades 2 - 6.
9. There are approximately 70 students attending the school.
