1. "I'm a college / high school student looking for a well-balanced curriculum of academic works and cultural excursions (with possibility of obtaining a university credit)."

Our instructors will give you an intensive lesson that is totally individualized for your academic and personal needs. For example, if you feel that your weakness is in oral expression, your instructor can place additional emphasis on exercises to improve listening, fluency and pronounciation. Our cultural excursions include Mayan ruins covered with dense foliages, beautiful (and touristic) lakeshore resort, Guatemala's largest aquatic amusement park, remote villages with extremely traditional culture, indigenous markets to take home a pig as your souvenir, etc.

2. "I'm a senior / adult / volunteer looking for ways to enrich my life through authentic cultural experience and meaningful contribution to the world."

Our host families with a mix of ladino/indigenous background will welcome you to complete the true immersion experience. You will see how children are raised, marriages are celebrated and slangs are used in every day life of middle class Guatemalans. Many students form life-long friendship with their host families and come back here again and again. Through our cultural and volunteering activities, you will 1) relax and have fun in a natural hotspring 2) teach English to local children 3) visit weaving and glassblowing cooperatives 4) cook and taste Guatemalan cuisines 5) shed light on Guatemalan social issues 6) assist at-risk students with their school works 7) participate in indigenous fiestas 8) take part in various community-based activities and more.

3. "I'm professional / researcher looking for a specific industry related Spanish and cultural competencies."

We will prepare you by arranging an 1-on-1 instruction and hands-on professional experiences that are most relevant to your daily tasks. For example, 1) an ex-pharmacist / medical assistant will teach you the clinical terminologies and will show you the way in a healthcare NGO; 2) an ex-journalist / director of a local FM/AM radio station will help you polish your writing and investigation skills in Spanish; 3) an ex-elementary / secondary school teacher will share with you his/her pedagogical skills and cultural tidbits to improve student engagement in your classroom; 4) native speakers of indigenous languages (k'iché, mam, etc.) will give you authentic usages and cultural backgroud of the language of your interest.
